Close up of image 'mrsalt1261' illustrating some of the locomotive maintenance work undertaken by fitters at Saltley shed. The rods are most likely inside connecting rods off ex-MR 2F 0-6-0 No 3311. It appears they are being held in a vice which in turn seems to have a pipe running down to a hand operated hydraulic pump. The lever would increase the pressure and the wheel alongside the lever would be used to lock the pressure. Behind the pump lying on the floor is a set of springs, again thought to be off the ex-MR 2F 0-6-0. To the right is a 'porters barrow' which would be used to move very heavy items around the shed.
