LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Tamworth

Seven British Railways and ex-LMS locomotives are seen disposed around the turntable of Saltley shed's No 3 roundhouse. They include Crosti-boilered British Railways Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 No 92028, ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 48659 and classmate No 48629. The two 8Fs were both built by the Southern Railway, No 48659 by Eastleigh works in November 1943 and No 48629 by Brighton works in June 1943. Both locomotives were withdrawn from 2E Saltley shed, No 48659 in May 1966 and No 48629 in August 1966. The 9F was built by Crewe works in July 1955 and was also withdrawn from 2E Saltley in January 1967.
