Ex-LMS 5F6P 'Crab' 2-6-0 No 42823 raises steam as it stands ready to leave Saltley shed on 26th March 1956. Built by Horwich works as LMS No 13123 in October 1929, it was renumbered by the LMS as No 2823 in August 1935 and then by British Railways as No 42823 in July 1948 which it retained until February 1964 when it was withdrawn from 21A Saltley shed to be scrapped.
