LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Tamworth

Saltley Shed: mrsalt1959

Ex-LMS 2-6-4T No 42421, standing in front of the offices and staff amenities block of Saltley shed in March 1962. Designed by Fowler No 42421 was a member of his 4MT class, built at Derby, and was in service from December 1933 to August 1964. This final batch of Fowler's 2-6-4T were modified by Stanier with side-window cabs and other details. Until 1960, this loco had been allocated to ex North-Western sheds. At Saltley, No 42241 worked passenger traffic on the Evesham line.
