Ex-MR 2P 4-4-0 No 40511, a member of the MR's 483 class, is seen standing in front of an unidentified ex-LMS 3MT 2-6-2T and alongside Saltley's coaling plant on 30th July 1955. Built by Sharp Stewart in November 1899 No 40511 was initially allocated by the MR and then the LMS No 511 and was to remain in service for over 55 years before being withdrawn from Toton shed in January 1961 to be scrapped in October 1961 by A Loom of Spondon.
