An internal view of one of Saltley shed's rebuilt roundhouses with two ex-LMS 8Fs, a BR Standard 9F and an ex-LMS Black 5 on show around the turntable in August 1966. The new shed was very well lit with natural light through the glazed windows and rooflights. The locomotives are from left to right; British Railways Standard class 9F 2-10-0 No 92136; the two ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0s are No 48820 and No 48192 whilst the ex-LMS Stanier 'Black 5' 4-6-0 was No 44920.

BR Standard 9F No 92136 was built at Crewe in July 1957 and remained in service until October 1966 when it was withdrawn from Saltley shed to be scrapped in February 1967 by TW Ward of Beighton. Both the ex-LMS locomotives No 48220 and No 48192 were built by the North British Locomotive Company in September 1942 and May 1942 respectively. The former locomotive No 48220 remained in service until August 1967 when it was withdrawn from Crewe South shed to be scrapped in December 1967 by J Buttigieg of Newport. The latter was also scrapped by J Buttigieg of Newport having been withdrawn in April 1968 from Heaton Mersey but was scrapped during August 1968.
