Saltley Shed: mrsalt659

Ex-MR 2F 0-6-0 No 22853, a MR 700 class locomotive, is seen standing adjacent to the war time damaged corner of Saltley shed's No 3 roundhouse on 29th May 1949. Built in 1873 as MR No 1051 by Derby works No 22853 was later allocated No 58112 by British Railways but was withdrawn in March 1950 from Saltley shed before it could be applied. Richard Strange writes 'This locomotive's Engine History Card shows that it was cut up by Derby works week ending 17th February 1951'.
