LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Tamworth

Ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 48271 is seen standing inside one of Saltley Shed's roundhouses with steam escaping from its cylinder cocks on 2nd April 1950. Built by the British Locomotive Company as LMS No 8271 in June 1942, No 48271 remained in service until August 1967 when it was withdrawn from Northwich shed to be scrapped by J Buttigieg of Newport.
