Ex-MR 2F 0-6-0 No 58231 is seen standing prepared for its next set of duties on one of Saltley shed's stabling roads outside No 3 roundhouse on 13th August 1949. Built by Derby works in November 1885 as a member of the MR's 1698 class, No 58231 was numbered by the LMS as No 3138 and remained in service until September 1952 when it was withdrawn from Saltley shed to be scrapped shortly afterwards.
