Ex-MR Johnson 2F 0-6-0 No 22983 stands outside one of Saltley Shed's roundhouses on Saturday 11th September 1937. A member of the Midland Railway's 1142 class, No 22983 was built by Beyer Peacock in December 1876 and was to remain in service until March 1956 when it was withdrawn from 18A Toton shed to be cut up for scrap by Derby works.
