British Railways built Ivatt 4MT 2-6-0 No 43012 has just been serviced in preparation to return home to Barrow Road shed circa late 1948. Fitted from new with a double chimney, No 43012 was built by Horwich works in April 1948 and was to remain in service until May 1967 when it was withdrawn from 52F North Blyth shed. Allocated to Barrow Road when new, No 43012 was transferred to Saltley shed in January 1954, then fitted with a single chimney, before being moved to Grimesthorpe shed in Sheffield in March the same year. Returning to Saltley in February 1960 No 43012 was later transferred to Wellingborough shed in September 1962.
