Ex-LMS 2-6-0 'Crab' No 42827 stands fully serviced alongside Saltley shed on Sunday 3rd September 1961. Built by Horwich works in November 1929, No 42827 was to remain allocated to Saltley from the outset of nationalisation on 1st January 1948 until week ending 21st August 1965 when it was withdrawn from 8H Birkenhead shed.
