Ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 48538 lies in the shed yard withdrawn from service on Friday 21st April 1967. The time the locomotive was allocated to Saltley prior to being withdrawn for scrapping was so short that the locomotive never carried Saltley's 2E shed plate but still retains its 16G Westhouses shed plate. Built at Doncaster Plant in August 1945, No 48538 was officially withdrawn from service in March 1967.
