LMS Route: The Birmingham West Suburban Railway

Ex-MR 0-6-0 3F No 43435 is seen entering Selly Oak goods yard at the head of a short pick-up train on 13th January 1958. Behind the cab is an unusual tender for this class of locomotive, a Fowler 3500 gallon tender, a type normally found fitted to the LMS 4F goods or 2P and 4P locomotives. Built as a member of the Midland Railway's 1873 class by Dubbs & Company in 1892, No 43435 was to remain in service until April 1962 when it was withdrawn from 21A Saltley shed.
