View of one of Salford Priors station's lampposts with the station name still visible on the outward face of the lantern. As can be seen, the lamppost was fitted with an oil lamp which would require the junior porter to include in their duties, the cleaning and trimming of wicks, the topping up of oil and the lighting and extinguishing the lamp each working day.
