LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Salford Priors station: mrsp580
Close up of the station master's house showing the LMS Hawkeye
name board on the left. The station name board seems to be in a poor state of
repair having had at least one post supported by another sunk into the ground.
The board would at best have only been in place for some twenty years, which
compared to the Midland Railway board it replaced, was a relatively short
period of time. The lampposts seen at the booking office and the entrance to
the platform from the access road are lit by oil. One of the jobs of the most
junior member of staff would have been to light them and extinguish them each
day and fill them with oil after trimming the wicks.
