Another internal view of Sutton Park signal box and its twenty-four lever frame and the shelf above fitted with electrical equipment. Inside a signal box there were various electrical signalling instruments and these were usually arranged on a shelf above the signal and point operating levers along the 'front' of the box. This restricted the view from the front windows but this view was of little concern to the signalman, who was more interested in seeing the train clear of the points to either side of the box and checking the red light was present on the rear of the train (indicating it was complete and had not left any wagons behind on the line).
