LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Tamworth

Wilnecote Station: mrw440b

Close up of image 'mrw440a' showing the structures on the down platform with at least three different brick buildings evident. The furthest building, adjacent to the bridge carrying Watling Street over the railway, is single-storey and has an entirely brick facade and appears to have three levels of roof. Its most probably a railway office and might have been the booking office when the station first opened. The second building is two-storeys high and only the front of the building is faced with bricks, the side elevation appearing to be rendered. The single-storey building with the elaborate fascia is at least one if not two passenger waiting rooms. There are two doors evident, one either side, and at least one room would be a ladies waiting room with en-suite facilities. In all probability the other might be a First Class waiting room. Above the girls is a telephone bell, whilst the steps next to them lead up to the booking office fronting on to Watling Street.
