Washwood Heath Sidings: mrwhg345
This view of Washwood Heath shows the down sidings in 1895
some eighteen years after it was first opened and four years after the down
sidings were enlarged. For over forty years the sidings were only located on
the down side of the yard. The sidings, it is believed, had two purposes the
primary purpose being the sorting of freight both into and out of the area. The
inward traffic being sorted for onward delivery to the MR's Central Goods and
Lawley Street facilities. The second purpose was providing some warehousing
facilities as seen above to the rear of the siding.
