Looking West towards Saltley station and Washwood Heath Junction Signal Box with on the left the Old Coal Bank sidings and on the right the North end of the up siding reception lines. The up and down goods and passenger lines between Derby and Birmingham are to the right of the signal box. Bob Essery notes in Midland Record No 26 that behind the photographer were the dead-end sidings used by traffic being transferred to the former GWR goods yard at Bordesley.
