View of the signal gantry which controlled the down passenger and No 1 down goods running lines on the Derby to Birmingham route, which was sited immediately in front of the former LNWR bridge carrying the Aston to Stechford line. The water storage tank provided the water for nearby water columns and was located in front of the abutment of the bridge and between the running lines and No 2 goods line and a siding head shunt. In the distance to the very left of the picture and just above the wall is the outline of the roofs of the carriage and wagon works. 25th October 1964
