View of the single line track looking towards Alcester showing the new bridge, No 5, which replaced Bridge No 51, No 52 and No 53. The route from Broom to Evesham suffered considerably from flood damage at the turn of the century and whilst most immediate dangers were addressed, through bridge building and repairs to embankments, other work was left to later. This view was taken for the Midland Railway's Engineering Department in 1915 and shows that the wooden key's used to fix the rails to the chairs are placed on the outside of the track. Whilst standard practice on most British Railways it was not standard Midland Railway practice which placed them on the inside so that the chairs holding both set of rails could be viewed in one pass of the tracks.
