Ex-MR 3F 0-6-0 No 43246 is seen shunting open wagons in Whitacre Station's goods yard circa 1949. On its right waiting for the 'off' and still carrying its LMS number, is ex-MR 3F 0-6-0 No 3436, which is also running tender first on a Kingsbury to Birmingham coal train. This might well be the same locomotive previously seen in image 'mrwj1162a'. Built by Neilson and Company in 1890, No 43246 remained in service until November 1956 when it was withdrawn from 21A Saltley shed. Classmate No 3436 was built by Dubbs and Company in 1892 and remained in service until June 1962 when it was withdrawn from 24B Rose Grove shed.
