Looking from Whitacre Station's island platform across to the up platform and its small half timber waiting room. The building is of brick construction for the first 3 feet and then timber framed covered with diagonal cladding. The building has no door nor is a chimney evident meaning that this was not at all inviting during the winter months. The lamp post on the left would appear to be lit by oil with the lamp removed for trimming of its wick and for being refilled with oil. The diagonal slats to the gate and fencing are standard Midland Railway design. The British Railways totem displaying the station's name would have been found on every other lamp post on the station.
