Whitacre Station: mrwj1857

Looking southwest from the passenger footbridge with the down platform on the left and the up platform on the right circa 1949. The access road to the station was the almost the full width opf the up platform and was only separated from the platform by the distinct Midland Railway angled fencing. Note the station's running-in board (the ciorrect terminology for the board carrying the station's name) is the LMS 'Hawkeye' type, later replaced by the British Railways London Midland Region's corporate design of an oblong board painted maroon with white lettering (see image 'mrwj1168').
