Whitacre Station: mrwj1859

Ex-LMS 4P 4-4-0 No 40907 approaches Whitacre with an Ordinary passenger service on 1st September 1952. Bob Essery notes 'this picture was taken from a road bridge to the north of the station where the up and down goods lines were either side of the main lines'. Built as LMS No 907 by the Vulcan Foundry in April 1927, No 40907 received its British Railways number in June 1949 which it retained until October 1960 when it was withdrawn from 19B Sheffield Millhouses shed to be scrapped.
