LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Nuneaton

British Railways built 4MT 2-6-0 No 43036 exits the Leicester line with an express service for New Street on 28th February 1959. This was the last day of operation of the former Midland & Great Northern Joint line which provided an East to West service via Leicester. The train comprises the 9:02am from Great Yarmouth service combined with the 9:40am from Cromer service for Birmingham New Street. The Ivatt Mogul locomotive was allocated to Saltley and would have come on to the train at Leicester. Built by Horwich works in June 1948 and remained in service until week ending 7th May 1966 when it was withdrawn from 12D Workington shed.
