A 1908 view of the two storey brick built main station building and the wooden covered stairway leading down from the booking hall. Viewed from track level the brick built main block had quite massive proportions with segmental and semicircular arched windows. The arches at the lower level on each side of the building spring from stone corbels with stone keystones. The lamp room is behind the two windows on the ground floor, whilst the blanked off wall on the left is the bottom of the hoist and on the right, the room where the coal was stored.
