Ex-LMS 5XP 4-6-0 No 45557 'New Brunswick' approaches Water
Orton station with a Class B Derby to New Street service circa 1960. British
Railways categorised Class B services as 'Ordinary Passenger train, mixed
train or breakdown van train NOT going to clear the line. Branch passenger
train (To be used only where authorised by the regional Operating
Officer)'. Built as LMS No 5557 in June 1934 by the North British
Locomotive Company of Glasgow, No 45557 was to remain in service until
September 1964 when it was withdrawn from 16C Derby shed to be scrapped by J
Cashmore's of Great Bridge.
