BR Standard Class 5MT 4-6-0 No 73139 approaches Water Orton
at the head of the Fridays only 2:15 pm York to Gloucester express service in
October 1959. The train has just passed Hams Hall power station on the horizon
to the right. Built by Derby works in November 1956, No 73139 was fitted with
Caprotti valve gear and poppet valves (one of thirty members of the one hundred
and seventy-two strong class) and was to remain in service until May 1967 when
it was withdrawn from 9H Patricroft shed to be scrapped.
