An unidentified British Railways Brush Type 2 diesel locomotive enters the cut off line for Kingsbury line with a freight service

An unidentified British Railways Brush Type 2 diesel locomotive enters the cut off line for Kingsbury line with a freight service. Construction of the first locomotive of this new class was completed in the final week of September 1957, and the handing-over took place on 31st October 1957. This was one of the Pilot Scheme locomotives ordered by British Railways to replace steam traction. Around twenty-six locomotives have been purchased, and preserved, for use on heritage railways around the UK. Of note are the first built, D5500 (later No 31018), and the last built, (D5862 later No 31327).
