Diagram of the layout of Ettington station showing the signal, points and levers used to control the station. The signal box had 13 levers with No 5 being spare. Lever No 13 enabled the signal box to switched out so that the two signal boxes on either side would control the two sections on either side of Ettington as one long section. As noted on the diagram, the up line was used when the long section was put into operation and this practice saved at least three men's shift over the Sunday.
