The South Midlander railway enthusiasts special hauled by a GWR locomotive is seen visiting the closed station on 24th April 1955. The station had been closed three years earlier on 5th April 1952 but the goods yard remained open until 1963-4 when, like many other goods facilities throughout the country, the competition from road traffic became too much and the station closed to goods traffic.
