Ex-GWR 56xx Class 0-6-2T No 6671 is seen shunting in Fenny Compton goods yard circa 1964. As can be seen by the above and from image 'smjfc144a', the clearances within the yard were very tight. The chalked shed plate '2L' reveals it as a Leamington locomotive, which strongly suggests that it was on a Banbury to Leamington trip working. The daily trips through from Northampton to Stratford ceased in late 1962 and were cut back to Byfield, so obviously Clifford, Ettington, Kineton and Fenny were then covered separately. The SMJ Fenny Compton yard was within the former GWR sphere of influence, as was the Burton Dassett WD yard. Leamington received its new Shed Code on 1st September 1963 which obviously places the date of this photograph at a later date. Built by Swindon works in September 1928, No 6671 was to remain in service until October 1965 when it was withdrawn from 2D Banbury shed to be scrapped by J Cashmores of Great Bridge.
