A member of the LMS' staff checks the Ro-Railer's temporary
buffing heads and a draw hook, a bizarre fixture as neither ever being required
in service. Sanding gear and locomotive headlamp arrangements were an obvious
requirement. It seemed like the LMS publicity department had achieved more than
their wildest dreams when the streets of Stratford-upon-Avon were filled with
people when it made its first trip to the station from the Welcombe Hotel on
April 23. 1932. This was however for the ceremony of the opening of the rebuilt
Shakespeare Memorial Theatre. With the development of the Welcombe Hotel
express connections were given to and from Stratford in the evenings. A fast
train left Stratford at 4.30 pm and ran 38'/* miles to
back
