Ex-E&WJR 0-6-0 No 17 draws forward from the siding which ran alongside the shed on 16th September 1922. Still carrying its original E&WJR number plate on the cabside the locomotive has its SMJ ownership displayed on the side of the tender, a practice influenced by the Midland Railway. The locomotive was one of a pair being built new for the SMJ by Beyer Peacock in 1908 and after grouping was designated by the LMS as a class 2F locomotive and renumbered as No 2310 before being withdrawn in 1925. Built by Beyer Peacock in 1908, No 17 was renumbered by the LMS as No 2310 prior to 1925 when it was withdrawn to be scrapped. As the locomotive is still in SMJ livery and as Edge Hill Light Railway 0-6-0T No 1, formerly LBSCR 'Terrier' No 73 'Deptford', is standing behind No 17, it is thought the date of the photograph is sometime in the early 1920s. The Edge Hill Light Railway's locomotives were serviced at Stratford on Avon shed until the EHLR closed in 1925.
