E&WJR 2-4-0T No 6 stands outside Stratford upon Avon shed prior to being reboilered in 1907-8. When reboilered the safety valves, which are seen above on the dome, were moved to on top of the firebox. Built new for the E&WJR by Beyer Peacock in 1885, this was the second locomotive to carry the number 6, the other being built in 1873 and returned with five other locomotives to the manufacturer at an unknown date to be sold on by them to the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway. This locomotive remained in service until 1916 when it was sold to the War Department.
