LMS Route: Stratford Midland Junction - The Shakespeare Route

E&WJR and SMJ - Locomotives and Rolling Stock: smjsa377

E&WJR 2-4-0 No 13 is seen standing on the original turntable outside Stratford upon Avon shed. With a power classification of 'C' the locomotive was more than capable of handling the duties of a Class 9 branch freight train which is what its headlamps would indicate. The turntable was relocated and replaced with a larger one in 1908, hence the dating, as the SMJ was created from 1st January 1909 and the loco received a new ownership plate. Note the slotted signal post in the background.
