LMS Route: Stratford Midland Junction - The Shakespeare
Route
Stratford on Avon Station: smjsa42b
Close up of image 'smjsa42' showing the outside of the
former E&WJR signal box which was decommissioned in 1910 upon the opening
of a new signal box at the west end of the up platform. The new signal box was
erected at the same time as the new carriage shed and two additional sidings
were built by the newly formed Stratford Midland Junction Railway. The lean-to
building was used to accommodate equipment belonging to the Signal &
Telegraph Department and also provided access to the signal box structure via
an internal staircase.
