LMS Route: Stratford Midland Junction - The Shakespeare

SMJ Locomotives: smjsa45
Ex-MR 1P 2-4-0 No No 96 is seen on 8th April 1924 still
wearing MR livery whilst working a goods train. This was not the usual working
for this type of locomotive not least because its traction was limited by
having two large diameter coupled wheels. Designed by Deeley as one of his 890
class and built by the MR at Derby works in May 1873, No 96 didn't last much
longer than most of the SMJ locomotives on the line being withdrawn and
scrapped at Derby works in August 1928.
