The handrail standing to the fore of the locomotive is part the original E&WJR turntable which was repositioned in 1908 ,the same year that the SMJ was formed. The turntable had to be repositioned because the 0-6-0s purchased could only access No 1 road due to the severe curve from the turntable to the other roads to the shed. The new position was located much further away towards the start of the Broom extension see image 'smjsa65b'.
