The Ro-Railer is seen reversing on to the ramp where it can
lower its road wheels and proceed on to the Welcombe Hotel. The timber decking
provided in the space where the sleepers would have originally been exposed can
clearly be seen. The Ro-Railer was just one of the numerous attempts conducted
in the 1930s by the different railway companies to find innovative solutions to
the perennial problem of servicing railways in rural or lightly populated
areas.
