View of Birmingham Corporation's cattle market from Lawley Street viaduct with Montague Street on the left

View of Birmingham Corporation's cattle market from Lawley Street viaduct with Montague Street on the left and, seen above the abandoned GWR viaduct, the travelling crane located at Banbury Street Wharf which was adjacent to the cattle landing seen in the previous image 'lnwrcs1496. The yard had two access roads, the main access road leading to Fazeley Street whilst the other went around the rear of the yard and then down to Montague Street. The latter access being used primarily to drive cattle to Birmingham Corporation's cattle market which was located in Montague Street. A two-horse dray is being driven the Montague Street entrance whilst a drover is driving cattle under the GWR viaduct from Banbury Street cattle landing towards the gate in Montague Street. Graham Laucht writes 'The cattle dock was in the Banbury Street sidings and also had another access where cattle were led toward Smithfield market via the bridge over the canal into Fazeley Street. This bridge still exists but is not accessible from either end or not legally should I say. I am doing research into the Duddeston viaduct in an attempt to identify the construction of three underline bridges in this same vicinity. The viaduct section above has long gone but included two intriguing iron beam spans which I believe very similar to a remaining part partially hidden amongst industrial buildings. The "toothless" gap is visible at the far end of the market. '
