Diagram of the new shunting frame provided by British
Railways to control the crossing gates. The frame was a ten lever LMS type and
it was required to 'lock' or 'unlock' the four pedestrian gates situated at the
four corners of the crossing (see 'lnwrth1286' and
'lnwrth713') for a view of the gates. The diagram
is marked as 'inverted' but I think this is an error by Preston Hendry and
Powell Hendry. I assume they think the siding shown on the left was in fact the
single siding found in the goods yard. I believe its the siding installed by
British Railways positioned approximately half a mile towards Berkswell used to
reverse locomotives proceeding to the oil depot on Torrington Avenue and
accessed from the up line.
