LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Nuneaton
Forge Mills Station: mrforg1870
Looking towards Whitacre Station with the up platform on the
left and the down platform on the right in March 1956. Beyond the short station
are the station's sidings with the signal box in the distance. This Signal Box
had probably been erected by the LMS as the 1924
Ordnance Survey map shows a signal box to be on the left adjacent to the
level crossing. On each platform is an LMS 'Hawkseye' style 'running-in' board,
the correct terminology to describe a station's nameboard. Attached to the side
wall of the station building on the right are two sets of three fire buckets
whilst the lampposts, two on each platform plus one either side of the level
crossing, appear to be oil lit.
