Looking along the platform towards Redditch with the station no longer looking pristine. Whilst the station may still be in use the stacking of the railway sleepers reflects the few passengers using the station and also, in part, typifies the attitude shown by British Railways towards its customers. With space available on the other side of the track there was no excuse for littering the platform with the sleepers, in fact image 'mrhv571a' shows how the Midland Railway conducted itself in similar circumstances. The lamppost whilst undergoing a change in design is still clearly oil lit as can be seen by the shape of the glass within the lamp.
