Chester Road Station

LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Lichfield

The station was opened on 1st December 1863 by the London and North Western Railway (L&NWR), later amalgamated with other railways to form the London, Midland and Scottish Railway. The station was from the outset built to handle only passenger traffic and therefore no goods facilities were available other than those catering for parcel traffic. As part of the electrification of the line in 1991-1992, the station was rebuilt and the the original LNWR booking office and waiting room was dismantled and moved to Market Bosworth on the now preserved Battlefield Line Railway.
